The first spot

Ever had a rough day at the office?  I have.  To relax and unwind, I've often found myself looking for new and exciting ways to blow off steam.  Each of my hobbies is, in reality, just a way to reset my center from the monotonous, stressful, seemingly endless hours I spend "workin' for the man".

I recently stumbled upon something.  You might be thinking 'well, duh - it's a hammock'.  In the most basic terms, you'd be correct.  IT is a hammock.  What it IS, though, is the proverbial "Holy Grail" of relaxation.

I ordered it online, waited a few days, and then it showed up.  Great, I've got it.  Was busy with work, dogs, etc.  Didn't necessarily have time to "set it all up" and use it.  So, I threw it in my closet, with hopes that I'd find time that weekend to set it up.

Finally, two weeks later, I found the time to hang some eye hooks from my porch.  I got in.  I'll be honest, I didn't think it was going to be much other than a place to rest my butt when I wanted to give the couch a rest.  The first sit was kind of tentative - it was pensive ("How does this thing work?"), and I stumbled through it.  Had to readjust a few times to get the height right, where I could get in it, and it didn't hang on the ground, but I could still get out of it relatively easy.

Once I found the sweet spot, I focused on the right "way" to actually lay in this thing.  It was alien to me.  Then I found it.  If I were to exaggerate, I'd say it was like being supported by angels, standing on clouds.  The view was perfect.  I put on some tunes, and whiled the evening away, jamming to some good music and relaxifyin' in my hammock.

The next day, I got back in after work, and realized two things, almost immediately.  First, this was heavenly.  Second, the view needs to change.

It was then, that I decided I'd start a blog about the best possible places to lay in your hammock in the greater southwest.  Here it is.

Enjoy!
